The Krishnanagar Center for Social Studies and Research distributed relief to tribal families in Sardar Para, Khorgram, Shimurali on July 1. These villagers have been laid off as a result of the train not running during the lockdown. Although the government has provided ration rice, there has been an acute shortage of dried food and cereals.
Nirbhay Maitra, secretary of KCSSR, said, “We have come to this village in response to the request of Shri Bidhan Ghosh, a social worker from Shimurali.” I saw the plight of the villagers with my own eyes. I distributed relief as much as possible. I wanted to come back in the future. It feels good to be able to do something for them.
