Relief distribution of KCSSR at Shimurali, Nadia – Part 2

The Krishnanagar Center for Social Studies and Research distributed relief to tribal families in Sardar Para, Khorgram, Shimurali on July 1. These villagers have been laid off as a result of the train not running during the lockdown. Although the government has provided ration rice, there has been an acute shortage of dried food and cereals.

Nirbhay Maitra, secretary of KCSSR, said, “We have come to this village in response to the request of Shri Bidhan Ghosh, a social worker from Shimurali.” I saw the plight of the villagers with my own eyes. I distributed relief as much as possible. I wanted to come back in the future. It feels good to be able to do something for them.

Among the farmers, Govindobhog and Radhuni Pagol rice seeds distributed by KCSSR

The Krishnanagar Center for Social Studies and Research distributed seed paddy among the farmers for cultivating paddy in the current season (June).
In Nadia district, this organization did various social service work as well as stood by the farming families.
This organization has received Govindabhog and Randhuni Pagal rice seeds from Kalyani Agricultural University. Which they distribute among the farmers.
Not only this, but the farmers are also taught the methods of paddy cultivation and home-based workshops.

Nirbhay Maitra, secretary of KCSSR, said there was less interest among farmers in Gobindbhog paddy cultivation in Nadia district. So the seeds have been given to the farmers for sowing paddy completely free of cost. So that the farmers become interested in cultivating this paddy. The agronomist government has discussed and encouraged the farmers to cultivate paddy. In order to make the right decision at the right time, apply fertilizer and take care of it, the provision was distributed among the farmers published by Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya.

Not only that, Bidhan Babu promised and assured that he would buy paddy from the farmers at a reasonable price.
Nirbhaya Maitra further said that if the enthusiasm among the farmers increases, next year we will be able to give seed paddy from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya .

KCSSR’s contribution and success in the field of folk culture

KCSSR has so far conducted Field RESEARCH work with folk artists in 10 districts of West Bengal. In that context, cultural programs and workshops have been held every year with folk artists. Regular KCSSR programs are conducted in Nadia district, Birbhum district and Sundarbans area.
A folk artist conference and cultural program and workshop has been held at Kirnahar in Birbhum district in a joint venture with the local panchayat.
Every year KCSSR conducts folk artist conferences and cultural events and workshops in Kakdwip of Sundarbans.

 

Folk artist conferences, workshops and cultural programs have been held at Madhabpur, Chapra and Sutia in Nadia district.
KCSSR has given the “Dinendra Award” nominated by eminent folk culture expert Dinendra Chowdhury for 3 years.
KCSSR has 4 officers doing service work on folk culture as well as publishing 12 research books and 2 have obtained doctorate degrees by doing research at university level. This is a great achievement for KCSSR.

KCSSR distributed school bags among the distressed students

Book bags were distributed among the school children on January 13 at Rautari village in Tantigachhi area of ​​Shimurali in Nadia district. The event was organized by Prashant Ghosh Memorial Foundation. Indigenous, Scheduled Caste students from this region come to study under the auspices of this foundation. KCSSR distributed clothes and bedding among the migrant workers

During the lockdown and in the aftermath of the Amphan disaster, the whereabouts of migrant workers have become uncertain. They have no food in their stomachs, no bed at night after getting wet in the storm. At that time, Krishnanagar Center for Social Studies and Research has come and stood by their side. They helped some people with dry food in front of Tollygunge Bangur Hospital and met their needs with clothes and bedding in the rickshaw labor slum on Kalicharan Seth Lane in Dumdum.

Migrant workers’ representatives Jitendra Pashwan and Rambilas Paswan said, “We are always on the side of KCSSR in times of danger.” We remember their efforts with gratitude.
